- 1.In triangle ABC, point D lies on side AB and point E lies on side AC, so that DE is parallel to BC. AD = 3 cm, DB = 6 cm and DE = 4 cm. Work out the length of BC.
- 2.A hexagon has interior angles of 130°, 142°, 125°, 150°, 135° and x°. Work out the value of x.
- 3.Lines AB and CD are parallel. A straight line EF crosses AB at point P and crosses CD at point Q. At P, angle APE = 65°. Angle APE and angle BPQ are vertically opposite. Angle BPQ and angle PQD are co-interior (allied) angles. Work out angle PQD.
- 4.Put sin 30°, tan 30° and cos 30° in order of size, starting with the smallest.
- 5.A chord is drawn across a circle, dividing the circle into two regions. Write down the name of one of these two regions.
- 6.Point E is at (4, 2). It is rotated 180° about the point (1, 1). Work out the coordinates of the image of point E.
- 7.A cylindrical tin has a curved surface, a flat circular base and a flat circular lid. A label is stuck around the curved surface only. How many of the tin's faces are NOT covered by the label?
- 8.A solid cube has a volume of 8 cm³. Work out the length of one edge of the cube.
- 9.Triangle ABC is extended so that side BC is extended beyond C to a point D, forming exterior angle ACD. Angle BAC = 48° and angle ABC = 67°. Which single angle fact gives angle ACD = 115° in one step, without first working out the interior angle at C?
- 10.A circle has a diameter of 24 cm. A sector of this circle has an angle of 90°. Using π = 3.14, work out the area of the sector.
- 11.A model of a bridge is built to a scale where every length on the model is 1/240 of the matching length on the real bridge. A support beam on the model measures 3.6 cm. Work out the length of the real support beam, giving your answer in metres.
- 12.A path goes from A(1, 1) to B(1, 5), then from B to C(6, 5). Work out the total length of the path from A to C.
- 13.A diameter divides a circle into two equal halves. Write down the special name given to each of these two halves.
- 14.A tangent touches a circle with centre O at the point P. Q is a point on the tangent. Write down the circle fact that tells you the size of angle OPQ.
- 15.A triangular bunting flag has two equal sides. The angle between those two equal sides is 80°, and the other two angles of the flag are equal to each other. Work out the size of each of the two equal angles.
