- 1.A lorry travels 105 miles in 1 hour 45 minutes. Work out its average speed in miles per hour.
- 2.A cheetah runs at a steady speed of 25 metres per second. Work out this speed in kilometres per hour.
- 3.A jar of jam costs £2.35. Tom buys 3 jars. He says the total cost is more than £7. Work out the exact total cost, and state whether Tom's claim is correct.

- 9.A car travels 180 km using 6 litres of fuel. Work out the car's fuel consumption in kilometres per litre, then work out how many kilometres it can travel on a full tank of 12 litres at this rate.
- 10.A jug holds 1.8 litres of juice. Priya pours out 3/4 of a litre to fill a glass. Work out how much juice is left in the jug, in millilitres.
- 11.A tin of beans has a mass of 650 g. A bag of rice has a mass of 1.35 kg. Work out the total mass, in kilograms.
- 12.A coach journey has a 55 minute first leg, a 20 minute break and a 40 minute second leg. The coach leaves at 13:25. Work out the arrival time, using the 24-hour clock.
- 13.A market trader buys 8 melons at £1.35 each. He sells all of them for a total of £15.60. Work out his profit.
- 14.A cyclist rides at a steady speed of 8 metres per second. Work out this speed in kilometres per hour.
- 15.A plane flies 2340 km at an average speed of 780 km/h. It departs at 08:20. Work out the arrival time, using the 24-hour clock.
