- 1.A jug holds 1.25 litres of water. Ella pours in another 400 ml. Work out the total volume, in litres.
- 2.Rice is sold in a 400 g bag for £1.12 and in a 1.5 kg bag for £3.90. Work out how much less the rice in the larger bag costs per kilogram.
- 3.A coach journey has a 55 minute first leg, a 20 minute break and a 40 minute second leg. The coach leaves at 13:25. Work out the arrival time, using the 24-hour clock.
- 4.A flight departs at 21:35 and lands at 06:10 the following morning. Work out the total flight time.
- 5.Maya buys 4 plants at £3.20 each and a bag of compost for £6.75. She pays with a £20 note. Work out her change.
- 6.Josh buys 7 pencils at 85p each. He pays with a £10 note. Work out his change.
- 7.A plane flies 2340 km at an average speed of 780 km/h. It departs at 08:20. Work out the arrival time, using the 24-hour clock.
- 8.A market trader buys 8 melons at £1.35 each. He sells all of them for a total of £15.60. Work out his profit.
- 9.A car travels 180 km using 6 litres of fuel. Work out the car's fuel consumption in kilometres per litre, then work out how many kilometres it can travel on a full tank of 12 litres at this rate.
- 10.A jug holds 1.8 litres of juice. Priya pours out 3/4 of a litre to fill a glass. Work out how much juice is left in the jug, in millilitres.
- 11.A bus leaves the station at 09:47 and arrives at its destination at 11:23. Work out the journey time.
- 12.A cheetah runs at a steady speed of 25 metres per second. Work out this speed in kilometres per hour.
- 13.Work out the total cost of 3 pens at 45p each and one notebook at £2.35. Give your answer in pounds.
- 14.The density of a type of plastic is 0.9 g/cm³. Work out this density in kg/m³.
- 15.Petrol costs £1.48 per litre. Sam buys 35 litres and pays with three £20 notes. Work out his change.
