- 1.A jug holds 1.25 litres of water. Ella pours in another 400 ml. Work out the total volume, in litres.

- 3.A tin of soup has a mass of 450 g. A bag of potatoes has a mass of 2.6 kg. Work out the total mass, in kilograms.
- 4.A coach journey has a 55 minute first leg, a 20 minute break and a 40 minute second leg. The coach leaves at 13:25. Work out the arrival time, using the 24-hour clock.
- 5.A market trader buys 8 melons at £1.35 each. He sells all of them for a total of £15.60. Work out his profit.
- 6.Maya buys 4 plants at £3.20 each and a bag of compost for £6.75. She pays with a £20 note. Work out her change.
- 7.A cheetah runs at a steady speed of 25 metres per second. Work out this speed in kilometres per hour.

- 11.A lorry travels 105 miles in 1 hour 45 minutes. Work out its average speed in miles per hour.
- 12.A tin of beans has a mass of 650 g. A bag of rice has a mass of 1.35 kg. Work out the total mass, in kilograms.
- 13.A plumber charges a call-out fee of £45 and then £28 for each hour she works. She is at a house from 09:15 until 12:45. Work out the total charge.
- 14.Bella's electricity supplier charges 28.5p per unit (kWh). Last month she used 340 units. Work out the total cost, giving your answer in pounds.
- 15.The density of a type of plastic is 0.9 g/cm³. Work out this density in kg/m³.
