- 1.A plane flies 2340 km at an average speed of 780 km/h. It departs at 08:20. Work out the arrival time, using the 24-hour clock.
- 2.A rectangular tile measures 45 cm by 0.6 m. Work out its area, in square centimetres.
- 3.A coach journey has a 55 minute first leg, a 20 minute break and a 40 minute second leg. The coach leaves at 13:25. Work out the arrival time, using the 24-hour clock.
- 4.A bus leaves the station at 09:47 and arrives at its destination at 11:23. Work out the journey time.
- 5.Which of these units would be most appropriate to use when stating the mass of a small car?

- 10.Rice is sold in a 400 g bag for £1.12 and in a 1.5 kg bag for £3.90. Work out how much less the rice in the larger bag costs per kilogram.
- 11.A flight departs at 21:35 and lands at 06:10 the following morning. Work out the total flight time.
- 12.A tin of beans has a mass of 650 g. A bag of rice has a mass of 1.35 kg. Work out the total mass, in kilograms.
- 13.A cheetah runs at a steady speed of 25 metres per second. Work out this speed in kilometres per hour.
- 14.A car travels 180 km using 6 litres of fuel. Work out the car's fuel consumption in kilometres per litre, then work out how many kilometres it can travel on a full tank of 12 litres at this rate.
- 15.Bella's electricity supplier charges 28.5p per unit (kWh). Last month she used 340 units. Work out the total cost, giving your answer in pounds.
