- 1.A recipe uses 160 g of flour. Sam wants to increase the amount by 1/4. Work out the new amount of flour.
- 2.A car is hired from 10:00 on Monday until 16:00 on Thursday. Work out the total length of the hire, in hours.
- 3.A shelf is 60 cm long, correct to the nearest 10 cm. Write down the upper bound for the length of the shelf, in centimetres.
- 4.A jumper is reduced by 15% in a sale to a price of £42.50. Work out the original price.

- 8.Leah measures the length of her classroom with a tape measure marked in centimetres. She writes the length down as 7.3157 m. Give a reason why this is not an appropriate degree of accuracy.
- 9.A flight departs at 21:35 and lands at 06:10 the following morning. Work out the total flight time.

- 12.Bella's electricity supplier charges 28.5p per unit (kWh). Last month she used 340 units. Work out the total cost, giving your answer in pounds.
- 13.Josh buys 7 pencils at 85p each. He pays with a £10 note. Work out his change.
- 14.A digital timer truncates every time to 1 decimal place. It shows a swimmer's time for one length as 12.3 seconds. Using t for the swimmer's actual time in seconds, write down the error interval for t.
- 15.The distance from the Earth to the Moon is 384,000 km. Write this distance in standard form, in kilometres.
