- 1.Work out the value of .
- 2.A recipe needs 0.485 kg of flour per cake. A bakery estimates its flour order by rounding this amount to 1 significant figure, then multiplying by the 60 cakes it plans to bake. Work out the bakery's estimate for the total flour needed, in kg.
- 3.Rice is sold in a 400 g bag for £1.12 and in a 1.5 kg bag for £3.90. Work out how much less the rice in the larger bag costs per kilogram.
- 4.A tin of soup has a mass of 450 g. A bag of potatoes has a mass of 2.6 kg. Work out the total mass, in kilograms.
- 5.Maya buys 4 plants at £3.20 each and a bag of compost for £6.75. She pays with a £20 note. Work out her change.
- 6.Petrol costs £1.48 per litre. Sam buys 35 litres and pays with three £20 notes. Work out his change.

- 12.A circle has a radius of 3 cm. Which of these is the exact area of the circle?
- 13.A courier's van has a weight limit of 850 kg for its parcels. The driver's display shows the total mass of the parcels loaded as 850 kg, correct to the nearest 5 kg. Decide whether the parcels are definitely within the weight limit.
- 14.Work out (3 × 10²) × (2 × 10⁵). Give your answer in standard form.
- 15.Two fair six-sided dice are rolled together. One die is red and the other is blue. Work out how many different outcomes are possible.
