- 1.A photograph uses 4 × 10⁶ bytes of storage. A memory card holds 3.2 × 10¹⁰ bytes. Work out how many of these photographs the card can hold. Give your answer in standard form.

- 5.A market trader buys 8 melons at £1.35 each. He sells all of them for a total of £15.60. Work out his profit.

- 8.A café is planning its lunch menu. Work out how many different soup-and-sandwich combinations are available on a normal day.
- 9.The error interval for the mass of a suitcase, m kg, is given as 22.5 ≤ m < 23.5. Write down the mass of the suitcase, correct to the nearest whole number.
- 10.A gym increases its membership price by 1/5. The original price is £60. Work out the new price.
- 11.Work out (4 × 10³) × (3 × 10¹). Give your answer in standard form.
- 12.Round 6.283 to 1 significant figure.
- 13.A carton of orange juice holds 1.35 litres. Ruby pours the juice equally into 4 identical glasses. Work out how much juice is in each glass, giving your answer as a fraction of a litre in its simplest form.
- 14.Write 0.00072 in standard form.
- 15.A recipe uses 0.625 kg of flour. Write this mass as a fraction of a kilogram, in its simplest form.
