- 1.2/3 of an amount of money is £30. Work out the amount.
- 2.Write 0.35 as a fraction in its lowest terms.
- 3.A charity trek covers 830 miles over roughly 19 days. By rounding each number to 1 significant figure, work out an estimate for the number of miles walked per day.
- 4.Work out 35% of 180.
- 5.A restaurant offers a lunch deal of one starter from 5 options, one main from 6 options and one dessert from 3 options. Work out how many different lunch deals are possible.

- 9.Simplify x⁵ × x³ ÷ x², giving your answer as a single power of x.
- 10.A concrete mix is made from cement and sand in the ratio 3 : 5 by mass. A builder mixes 96 kg of concrete. Work out the mass of cement in the mix.
- 11.Work out 1 − 1/2 − 1/4 − 1/8 − 1/16. Give your answer as a fraction.
