- 1.A train leaves Leeds at 14:35. The journey takes 1 hour 50 minutes. Work out the time the train arrives. Give your answer using the 24-hour clock.
- 2.The thickness of a sheet of card is 0.02384 cm. Write this thickness correct to 2 significant figures.
- 3.A shape is made by joining a rectangle measuring 10 cm by 6 cm to a semicircle of diameter 6 cm along one of the rectangle's shorter sides. Work out the exact area of the shape, in terms of π.

- 9.A box stands on a table. The box exerts a force of 240 N on the table, and the base of the box has an area of 0.8 m². Work out the pressure the box exerts on the table, in N/m².
- 10.A board game has 5 different character pieces and 4 different colour tokens. The dragon piece can only be used with the gold token. Work out how many different combinations of one character piece and one colour token are possible.
- 11.Write down the symbol that makes this statement true: −2/3 ___ −5/6
- 12.Write down the symbol that makes this statement true: −9 ___ −4
- 13.The length of a pencil is 8.4 cm, correct to 1 decimal place. Using L for the length of the pencil in centimetres, write down the error interval for L.
- 14.The population of a planet is 8 × 10⁹. Write this population as an ordinary number.
- 15.Write 0.005 in standard form.
