- 1.Work out 18 − 4 × 2
- 2.In a classroom the ratio of boys to girls is 3 : 4. What fraction of the class are boys?

Work out how many different soup-and-sandwich combinations are available on a normal day.
- 10.A metal cube has a mass of 540 g and a volume of 60 cm³. Work out its density in g/cm³.
- 11.A café offers 3 types of soup and 4 types of bread roll. Work out how many different combinations of one soup and one bread roll are possible.
- 12.A country's population is 8,340,000, and it is estimated that 1,950,000 of them live in the capital city. By rounding each number to 1 significant figure, work out an estimate for the number of people who do not live in the capital city.
