- 1.Grace's mean mark in her maths tests rises from 70 to 84. Work out the percentage increase in her mean mark.
- 2.Work out 25% of 200.
- 3.Work out the difference between 45% of 70 and 35% of 80.
- 4.Jamal invests £600 in a savings account paying 3% simple interest per year. Work out the total amount in the account after 4 years.
- 5.A sofa costs £800. Its price is increased by 25%. Work out the new price of the sofa.
- 6.There are 400 students at a school. 25% of them have a brother, 40% have a sister and 15% have both a brother and a sister. Work out how many of the students have neither a brother nor a sister.
- 7.A jumper costs £45 at Shop A, where it is reduced by 20%. The same jumper costs £34 at Shop B, where a further 10% reduction is then applied. Work out the difference between the two reduced prices.
- 8.The price of a jacket increases by 50% and then decreases by 50%. Describe the overall change from the original price.
- 9.Priya invests £750 in a savings account that pays simple interest. After 3 years, the account contains £840. Work out the annual rate of simple interest.
- 10.The price of a games console is reduced by 10%. In a later sale the reduced price is reduced by 10% again. Work out the overall percentage decrease.
- 11.Work out 50% of 60.
- 12.Write 0.25 as a percentage.
- 13.A company's profit this year is 130% of last year's profit. Last year's profit was £40,000. Work out this year's profit.
- 14.Order these three values from smallest to largest: 3/8, 0.43, 41%.
- 15.Write 3/4 as a percentage.
