- 1.The price of a jacket increases by 50% and then decreases by 50%. Describe the overall change from the original price.
- 2.The price of a share falls by 10% on Monday and then rises by 10% on Tuesday. Work out the overall percentage change from Monday's starting price.
- 3.There are 400 students at a school. 25% of them have a brother, 40% have a sister and 15% have both a brother and a sister. Work out how many of the students have neither a brother nor a sister.
- 4.A sofa costs £800. Its price is increased by 25%. Work out the new price of the sofa.
- 5.A car is bought for £17,500. Its value decreases by 12% in the first year, and by a further 10% of its reduced value in the second year. Work out the value of the car at the end of the second year, giving your answer to the nearest pound.
- 6.A company's turnover this year is £180,000. Last year's turnover was £120,000. Write down this year's turnover as a percentage of last year's turnover.

- 8.Jamal invests £600 in a savings account paying 3% simple interest per year. Work out the total amount in the account after 4 years.
- 9.A company's profit this year is 130% of last year's profit. Last year's profit was £40,000. Work out this year's profit.
- 10.Grace's mean mark in her maths tests rises from 70 to 84. Work out the percentage increase in her mean mark.
- 11.The price of a cycling helmet rises from £80 to £116. Work out the percentage increase.
- 12.The number of members of a running club increases from 45 to 54. Work out the percentage increase.
- 13.After a 20% discount, a jacket costs £48. Work out the original price of the jacket.
- 14.Priya invests £750 in a savings account that pays simple interest. After 3 years, the account contains £840. Work out the annual rate of simple interest.
- 15.40% of a number is 12 more than 25% of the same number. Work out the number.
