- 1.Write 0.25 as a percentage.
- 2.Work out the difference between 45% of 70 and 35% of 80.
- 3.The same jumper is sold at two shops. Shop A charges £40 and Shop B charges £50. Write down the price at Shop A as a percentage of the price at Shop B.
- 4.The number of members of a running club increases from 45 to 54. Work out the percentage increase.
- 5.A textbook is reduced from £60 to £45. Work out the percentage reduction.
- 6.After a 20% discount, a jacket costs £48. Work out the original price of the jacket.
- 7.A company's turnover this year is £180,000. Last year's turnover was £120,000. Write down this year's turnover as a percentage of last year's turnover.
- 8.Order these three values from smallest to largest: 3/8, 0.43, 41%.
- 9.The rent on a flat increases by 10% one year and by a further 10% the following year. Work out the overall percentage increase over the two years.
- 10.Write 3/4 as a percentage.
- 11.A car is bought for £17,500. Its value decreases by 12% in the first year, and by a further 10% of its reduced value in the second year. Work out the value of the car at the end of the second year, giving your answer to the nearest pound.
- 12.Priya invests £750 in a savings account that pays simple interest. After 3 years, the account contains £840. Work out the annual rate of simple interest.
- 13.There are 400 students at a school. 25% of them have a brother, 40% have a sister and 15% have both a brother and a sister. Work out how many of the students have neither a brother nor a sister.
- 14.A jumper costs £45 at Shop A, where it is reduced by 20%. The same jumper costs £34 at Shop B, where a further 10% reduction is then applied. Work out the difference between the two reduced prices.
- 15.A box holds 80 chocolates. 75% of them are milk chocolates. Work out how many milk chocolates are in the box.
