- 1.The price of a jacket increases by 50% and then decreases by 50%. Describe the overall change from the original price.
- 2.The price of a cycling helmet rises from £80 to £116. Work out the percentage increase.
- 3.The price of a share falls by 10% on Monday and then rises by 10% on Tuesday. Work out the overall percentage change from Monday's starting price.
- 4.The number of members of a running club increases from 45 to 54. Work out the percentage increase.
- 5.A car is bought for £17,500. Its value decreases by 12% in the first year, and by a further 10% of its reduced value in the second year. Work out the value of the car at the end of the second year, giving your answer to the nearest pound.
- 6.40% of a number is 12 more than 25% of the same number. Work out the number.
- 7.A jumper costs £45 at Shop A, where it is reduced by 20%. The same jumper costs £34 at Shop B, where a further 10% reduction is then applied. Work out the difference between the two reduced prices.
- 8.The price of a games console is reduced by 10%. In a later sale the reduced price is reduced by 10% again. Work out the overall percentage decrease.
- 9.Priya invests £750 in a savings account that pays simple interest. After 3 years, the account contains £840. Work out the annual rate of simple interest.
- 10.Work out the difference between 45% of 70 and 35% of 80.
- 11.A laptop priced at £520 is first increased by 15%, and then the new price is decreased by 20%. Work out the final price of the laptop.
- 12.After a 20% discount, a jacket costs £48. Work out the original price of the jacket.
- 13.Write 0.25 as a percentage.
- 14.The same jumper is sold at two shops. Shop A charges £40 and Shop B charges £50. Write down the price at Shop A as a percentage of the price at Shop B.
- 15.A textbook is reduced from £60 to £45. Work out the percentage reduction.
