- 1.A company's profit this year is 130% of last year's profit. Last year's profit was £40,000. Work out this year's profit.
- 2.The rent on a flat increases by 10% one year and by a further 10% the following year. Work out the overall percentage increase over the two years.
- 3.A charity fun run raises money through entry fees and donations. Entry fees raise £1,260, which is 60% of the total amount raised. Work out how much money was raised through donations.
- 4.The same jumper is sold at two shops. Shop A charges £40 and Shop B charges £50. Write down the price at Shop A as a percentage of the price at Shop B.
- 5.The price of a games console is reduced by 10%. In a later sale the reduced price is reduced by 10% again. Work out the overall percentage decrease.
- 6.Priya invests £750 in a savings account that pays simple interest. After 3 years, the account contains £840. Work out the annual rate of simple interest.
- 7.The price of a share falls by 10% on Monday and then rises by 10% on Tuesday. Work out the overall percentage change from Monday's starting price.
- 8.After a 20% discount, a jacket costs £48. Work out the original price of the jacket.
- 9.Order these three values from smallest to largest: 3/8, 0.43, 41%.
- 10.Work out the difference between 45% of 70 and 35% of 80.
- 11.The price of a cycling helmet rises from £80 to £116. Work out the percentage increase.
- 12.In a test, Amelia answered 18 of the 24 questions correctly. Work out the percentage of the questions she answered correctly.
- 13.A sofa costs £800. Its price is increased by 25%. Work out the new price of the sofa.
- 14.The number of members of a running club increases from 45 to 54. Work out the percentage increase.
- 15.There are 400 students at a school. 25% of them have a brother, 40% have a sister and 15% have both a brother and a sister. Work out how many of the students have neither a brother nor a sister.
