- 1.A worker is paid £13.20 per hour. Work out this rate of pay in pence per minute.
- 2.Write 3 hours 45 minutes as a decimal number of hours.
- 3.A water tank is a cuboid measuring 30 cm × 20 cm × 10 cm. The tank is full of water. Work out how many litres of water it holds.
- 4.1 litre = 100 centilitres. Work out how many centilitres there are in 6 litres.
- 5.A pump fills a paddling pool at a rate of 130 litres per hour. Work out the rate in litres per minute, to 2 decimal places.
- 6.A section of a kitchen wall has an area of 45,000 cm². Work out the area of this section in m².
- 7.A metal has a density of 7.8 g/cm³. Work out the density of the metal in kg/m³.
- 8.Given that 1 mile ≈ 1.6 km, work out a speed of 55 mph in km/h.
- 9.A force of 250 N acts on an area of 0.5 m². Using pressure = force ÷ area, work out the pressure, in pascals.
- 10.A parcel has a mass of 2400 g. Given that 1 kg = 1000 g, work out the mass of the parcel in kilograms.
- 11.The density of a type of solid plastic is 0.9 g/cm³. Work out the mass of 0.5 m³ of the plastic, in kilograms.
- 12.Work out how many seconds there are in 3 minutes and 20 seconds.
- 13.A glass holds 250 ml of squash. Work out how many of these glasses are needed to fill a 1 litre bottle.
- 14.A bottle contains 1.5 litres of juice. Given that 1 litre = 1000 ml, work out the capacity of the bottle in millilitres.
- 15.A runner's speed is 8 m/s. Given that there are 3600 seconds in an hour and 1000 metres in a kilometre, work out the runner's speed in km/h.
