- 1.A water tank is a cuboid measuring 30 cm × 20 cm × 10 cm. The tank is full of water. Work out how many litres of water it holds.
- 2.A force of 250 N acts on an area of 0.5 m². Using pressure = force ÷ area, work out the pressure, in pascals.
- 3.A section of a kitchen wall has an area of 45,000 cm². Work out the area of this section in m².
- 4.A parcel has a mass of 2400 g. Given that 1 kg = 1000 g, work out the mass of the parcel in kilograms.
- 5.Butter costs £2.40 per kg. Work out the cost of the butter in pence per 100 g.
- 6.A tap fills a tank at a rate of 15 litres per minute. Given that 1 litre = 1000 cm³, work out the rate at which the tank fills in cm³ per second.
- 7.A worker is paid £13.20 per hour. Work out this rate of pay in pence per minute.
- 8.Write 3 hours 45 minutes as a decimal number of hours.
- 9.A runner's speed is 8 m/s. Given that there are 3600 seconds in an hour and 1000 metres in a kilometre, work out the runner's speed in km/h.
- 10.A tank is filled at a rate of 3 litres every 2 minutes. Given that 1 litre = 1000 cm³, work out the flow rate in cm³ per minute.
- 11.The density of a liquid is 0.92 g/cm³. Work out the density of the liquid in kg/m³.
- 12.A watering can holds 4500 cm³ of water. Given that 1 litre = 1000 cm³, work out the capacity of the watering can in litres.
- 13.Work out how many seconds there are in 3 minutes and 20 seconds.
- 14.A metal has a density of 7.8 g/cm³. Work out the density of the metal in kg/m³.
- 15.Given that 1 mile ≈ 1.6 km, work out a speed of 55 mph in km/h.
