- 1.x is 2/3 of y. Write the ratio x : y in its simplest form.
- 2.A lorry is carrying a load of mass m tonnes. Given that 1 tonne = 1000 kg, write down an expression for the mass of the load in kilograms.
- 3.Write the ratio 18:22 in its simplest form.
- 4.An Ordnance Survey map has a scale of 1 : 50 000. A cycle route measures 9.4 cm on the map. Work out the real length of the route, in kilometres.
- 5.Two mathematically similar garden ponds have surface areas of 12 m² and 27 m². The fencing needed to go around the smaller pond costs £96. Assuming the cost of fencing is proportional to the perimeter of the pond, work out the cost of fencing the larger pond.
- 6.A jug of squash is made by mixing water and syrup in the ratio 6:1. Nia wants to make 8.4 litres of squash. Work out how much syrup she needs, in litres.
- 7.6 identical taps fill a paddling pool in 20 minutes. Each tap fills at the same steady rate. Work out how long 3 of these taps would take to fill the same pool.
- 8.Two numbers are in the ratio 5 : 8. The larger number is 40. Work out the smaller number.
- 9.Write 3/4 as a percentage.
- 10.A hosepipe fills a paddling pool at a constant rate. The volume of water in the pool increases by 15 litres every 3 minutes. Write down the gradient of the graph of volume against time.
- 11.In a test, Amelia answered 18 of the 24 questions correctly. Work out the percentage of the questions she answered correctly.
- 12.A scale drawing of a park has a scale of 1 : 2500. On the drawing, the distance between the entrance and the lake is 4.4 cm. A jogger runs from the entrance to the lake and then back to the entrance. Work out the total distance the jogger runs, in kilometres.
- 13.A salt solution has a concentration of 10%. The solution contains 50 g of salt. Work out the total mass of the solution.
- 14.Isla and her brother share £60 in the ratio 1:2. Work out Isla's share.
- 15.£96 is shared between Ben, Cara and Dev in the ratio 2:3:7. Work out how much Cara receives.
