- 1.Grace's mean mark in her maths tests rises from 70 to 84. Work out the percentage increase in her mean mark.
- 2.£120 is shared between three cousins in the ratio 3:4:5. Work out the largest share.
- 3.The value of a motorbike falls by 12% each year. The motorbike is worth £3200 now. Write down the calculation that gives its value after 3 years.
- 4.A recipe for 4 people needs 300 g of rice. Work out how much rice is needed for 6 people, assuming the amount is in direct proportion to the number of people.
- 5.Cheng is paid an hourly rate that is proportional to the number of hours she works. She earns £52.50 for 7 hours. Work out how much she earns for 11 hours, assuming the same rate.
- 6.y is always the same multiple of x. When x = 6, y = 15. Work out the value of y when x = 10.

- 10.A scale drawing of a playground is drawn to a scale of 1 : 300. A slide measures 4 cm on the drawing. Work out the real length of the slide, in centimetres.
- 11.A tank is filled at a rate of 3 litres every 2 minutes. Given that 1 litre = 1000 cm³, work out the flow rate in cm³ per minute.
- 12.A cyclist travels 45 km in 3 hours at a constant speed. Work out the cyclist's average speed, in km/h.
- 13.A map has a scale of 1 : 1000. A road is 300 m long in real life. Work out the length of the road on the map, in centimetres.
- 14.Two scale plans of the same football pitch are drawn: Plan A has a scale of 1 : 1000 and Plan B has a scale of 1 : 200. A pitch length is 8 cm on Plan A. Work out the length of the same pitch on Plan B, in centimetres.
- 15.A 5 kg bag of potatoes costs £4.50. Work out the cost per kilogram.
