- 1.Make x the subject of the formula y = 3(x + 2).
- 2.Three consecutive integers add up to 72. Using n for the smallest integer, form an equation and solve it to find the smallest of the three integers.

- 11.Simplify fully: (x + 2)/(3x) × 6x²/(x² − 4)

- 13.Work out the equation of the straight line through the points (−3, 4) and (1, −8).
- 14.The point (3, 4) lies on the circle x² + y² = 25, which has centre (0, 0). Work out the gradient of the tangent to the circle at (3, 4).
- 15.The nth term of a sequence is n² + 2n − 4. Work out the 7th term.
