- 1.Find the common ratio of the geometric sequence 5, 5√2, 10, 10√2, ... Give your answer in surd form.
- 2.By completing the square, find the turning point of the curve y = x² + 8x − 3.y = x² + 8x − 3
- 3.A sequence has the position-to-term rule n² + 2, where n is the position number. Work out the 6th term.
- 4.A graph passes through the point (0, 1). As x increases through positive values, the graph rises more and more steeply, and as x decreases through negative values, the graph gets closer and closer to the x-axis without ever reaching it. Which of these could be the equation of the graph?
- 5.Solve the inequality 2(3x − 1) ≥ 4x + 8.
- 6.Solve x² − 100 = 0.
- 7.The equation x² − 7 = 0 has a positive root. Let f(x) = x² − 7. Given that x₁ = 2.6 and x₂ = 2.65, work out which of these is correct.y = x² − 7
- 8.The formula for the area of a trapezium is A = (a + b)h / 2, where a and b are the parallel side lengths and h is the height. Make h the subject of the formula.
- 9.n = 3. Work out the value of (2n)².
- 10.A cyclist's speed-time graph is described as follows: speed increases steadily from 0 m/s to 8 m/s over the first 4 seconds, stays constant at 8 m/s for the next 6 seconds, then decreases steadily to 0 m/s over the final 2 seconds. Work out the total distance travelled.

- 13.Solve x² − 5x + 6 = 0 by factorising.
- 14.A graph shows the total monthly cost of a mobile phone tariff against the number of minutes of calls. The line starts at £12 and stays level until 200 minutes, then rises by 5p for each further minute of calls. Use the graph to work out the total cost of a month in which 250 minutes of calls are made.
- 15.Make x the subject of the formula y = x/2 − 5.y = x
