- 1.The trapezium rule is used to estimate the area under a curve between x = 2 and x = 6. The curve is concave up (it curves upwards, like the inside of a bowl) throughout this interval. Which statement about the estimate is correct?
- 2.Water is poured into a container at a constant rate. A graph of the depth of the water, in cm, against the time since pouring began, in minutes, is a straight line through the origin, and it passes through the point (3, 12). Use the graph to work out the depth of the water after 7 minutes.
- 3.The graph of y = f(x) passes through the point (0, 4). Work out the y-coordinate of the point where the graph of y = −f(x) + 5 crosses the y-axis.
- 4.Work out the coordinates of the reflection of (6, −3) in the y-axis.
- 5.A straight line has gradient 3 and passes through the point (1, 4). Work out the equation of the line.
- 6.Solve 3x + 14 = 8x − 6
- 7.When a number is added to its square the result is 30. Work out the possible values of the number.
- 8.The graph of y = 2x² + 6x − 1 is translated by the vector (−2, 0). Work out the equation of the image, giving your answer in the form y = 2x² + bx + c.y = 2x² + 6x − 1y = 2x²
- 9.Solve x² − 100 = 0.
- 10.A circle has centre (0, 0) and passes through the point (5, 12). Work out the equation of the circle.
- 11.Expand and simplify 2(a + 6) − 2(a − 7)
- 12.Point R has coordinates (3, −5). Point R is reflected in the line y = 2 to point S. Write down the coordinates of S.
- 13.Write down the first four terms of the sequence with nth term 6n − 5.
- 14.Solve the simultaneous equations 3x + y = 14 and x + y = 6. Work out the value of x.
- 15.A geometric sequence has first term 3 and common ratio √2. Work out the 6th term of the sequence, giving your answer in the form a√2.
