- 1.Line L has equation y = 3x − 2. Work out the gradient of a line perpendicular to L.y = 3x − 2
- 2.The graph of y = f(x) has x-intercepts at x = −1 and x = 4. Which statement correctly describes the x-intercepts of y = f(2 − x)?
- 3.A straight line passes through the points (1, 3) and (2, 5). Work out the equation of the line.
- 4.A circle has centre (0, 0) and equation x² + y² = 100. A straight line is drawn from the origin through the point P(8, 9). Work out whether P lies inside, on, or outside the circle.
- 5.Simplify (2x² + 7x + 3) ÷ (x² − 9), giving your answer as a single fraction.
- 6.The point (9, 12) lies on the circle x² + y² = 225, which has centre (0, 0). The tangent to the circle at (9, 12) crosses the x-axis at the point P. Work out the x-coordinate of P.
- 7.A rule turns each input into an output. An input of 0 gives an output of −1, an input of 1 gives an output of 1, and an input of 2 gives an output of 3. Work out the rule, writing the input as x and the output as y.
- 8.A circle has centre (0, 0) and equation x² + y² = 36. Work out the coordinates of the two points where the circle crosses the y-axis.
- 9.Work out the value of 5m² + 3m when m = −2.4
- 10.Work out the coordinates of the reflection of (6, −3) in the y-axis.
- 11.Which expression is equivalent to 3(x + 4) − 2(x − 1)?
- 12.Write down the expression that means the same as (x + 7) ÷ 4.
- 13.The nth term of a geometric sequence is given by aₙ = 3 × 2ⁿ⁻¹. Work out the position of the first term that is greater than 1,000.
- 14.The graph of y = f(x) passes through the point (2, 5). Write down the coordinates of the corresponding point on the graph of y = f(x − 4) + 1.
- 15.Work out the integer values of x that satisfy x² − 2x − 8 ≤ 0.
