- 1.A treasure map has a scale of 1 cm to 4 m. A path from the start to a rock is drawn as two straight sections, measuring 3 cm and 2.5 cm. Work out the total real distance from the start to the rock, in metres.
- 2.Triangle ABC is similar to triangle PQR. Side AB is 8 cm and corresponds to side PQ, which is 12 cm. Side AC is 6 cm and corresponds to side PR. Work out the length of PR.
- 3.A shape is reflected in the line x = 1, and the image is then reflected in the line x = 5. Which single transformation is equivalent to this combination, for every point?
- 4.A trapezium has parallel sides of length 6 cm and 10 cm, and a perpendicular height of 4 cm. Work out its area.
- 5.Lines AB and CD are parallel. A straight line EF crosses AB at point P and crosses CD at point Q. At P, angle APE = 65°. Angle APE and angle BPQ are vertically opposite. Angle BPQ and angle PQD are co-interior (allied) angles. Work out angle PQD.
- 6.In triangle ABC and triangle DEF, AB = DE, AC = DF, and the angle at A equals the angle at D. Write down the congruence condition that proves the two triangles are congruent.
- 7.Triangle PQR has vertices P(0, 0), Q(9, 0) and R(0, 4). Work out the area of triangle PQR.
- 8.A student draws a net using 5 identical squares arranged in a row of four with one extra square attached to the side of one of them. Can this net be folded to make a closed cube?
- 9.Shape S has an area of 48 cm². It is enlarged by a scale factor of 1/4 to give shape T. Work out the area of shape T.
- 10.Two similar hexagonal tiles have lengths in the ratio 4 : 7. A side of the smaller tile is 8.4 cm long. Work out the length of the corresponding side of the larger tile.
- 11.A hiker starts by walking on a bearing of 245°. She turns clockwise through 50°, then turns clockwise through a further 15°, and continues walking in a straight line. What bearing is she now walking on?
- 12.Vertex X of a triangle is at (−3, 5). After a translation, the image of X is at (2, −1). Write down the column vector of this translation.
- 13.A courier drone delivers a parcel. It starts at the point (2, 1) on a map grid measured in kilometres. It flies by the vector to a warehouse, then by the vector to the delivery address. Work out the coordinates of the delivery address.
- 14.A party hat is in the shape of a cone with a base radius of 6 cm and a slant height of 10 cm. Work out the curved surface area of the party hat. Use π = 3.14 and the formula curved surface area = πrl.
- 15.a is the column vector with top number 3 and bottom number −2. b is the column vector with top number −1 and bottom number 5. Work out 2a + b, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
