- 1.A rectangular notice board measures 150 cm by 80 cm. Work out its area in m².
- 2.A tent has the cross-section of a right-angled triangle. The sloping side of the cross-section is 10 m long, and it makes an angle of 60° with the horizontal ground. Using the exact value of cos 60°, work out the horizontal distance covered by the sloping side.
- 3.Shape T has a vertex at (5, 3). T is enlarged by scale factor −1, centre (2, 1). Work out the coordinates of the image of the vertex (5, 3).
- 4.In triangle ABC, AB = 9 cm, AC = 6 cm and angle BAC = 110°. Work out the length of BC. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 5.A tap fills a tank at a rate of 18 litres per minute. The tank holds 0.45 m³. Work out how long the tap takes to fill the tank.
- 6.An engineer models a technical drawing on a coordinate grid. A component is reflected in the line x = 2, and the image is then reflected in the line x = 6. Which single transformation has the same overall effect as these two reflections, for every point on the drawing?
- 7.A cylindrical drum and a cuboid box are being wrapped for a display. A shop assistant wraps only the flat faces of each item, not any curved surface. How many flat faces in total does the assistant wrap across both items?
- 8.Put sin 30°, tan 30° and cos 30° in order of size, starting with the smallest.
- 9.A student draws a net using 5 identical squares arranged in a row of four with one extra square attached to the side of one of them. Can this net be folded to make a closed cube?
- 10.A model car is built to a scale of 1 : 24. The real car is 4.32 m long. Work out the length of the model, in centimetres.
- 11.In geometry, which of the following best describes a 'plane'?
- 12.Two triangles are proved congruent using the ASA condition. What can be concluded about the two remaining pairs of corresponding sides that were not part of the original ASA facts?
- 13.Work out the distance between the points (−3, 4) and (5, −2).
- 14.A mast stands vertically on level ground and its top is 60 m above the ground. Amelia and Noah stand on the ground on the same side of the mast, in line with its foot. The angle of elevation of the top of the mast is 30° from where Amelia stands and 60° from where Noah stands. Work out the distance between Amelia and Noah. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 15.A garden bed is designed as a trapezium. The two parallel sides are 8 m and 12 m, and the perpendicular distance between them is 5 m. Grass seed covers 4 m² per bag, sold only in whole bags. Work out how many bags of grass seed are needed.
