- 1.A trapezium has vertices (0, 2), (4, 2), (3, 5) and (1, 5). It is rotated 180° about the point (2, 2), and the image is then translated by the vector (1, −5). Work out the coordinates of the image of (0, 2).
- 2.A skateboard ramp is designed so that a straight rail RT is tangent to a circular curve at the point T, and TC is a chord of the curve from T to another point C on the curve. A second rail continues straight through T on the other side, so that the two rails together form a straight line, and the angle between that second rail and the chord TC is 109°. A support point D is placed on the curve, on the major arc TC. Work out the size of angle TDC, the angle subtended by the chord TC at D.
- 3.P is the point (3, 4) and Q is the point (6, 0). Work out the distance of each point from the origin, and write down which point is closer to the origin.
- 4.A hexagon has interior angles of 130°, 142°, 125°, 150°, 135° and x°. Work out the value of x.
- 5.State whether the line segment joining A(−4, 3) and B(2, 6) is horizontal, vertical or neither, and give a reason for your answer.
- 6.In triangle ABC and triangle DEF, the angle at A and the angle at D are both 40°, and the angle at B and the angle at E are both 70°. No side lengths are given. Write down whether the two triangles must be similar, with the reason.
- 7.A dog is tied by a lead 4 m long to a fixed ring on a straight garden wall. The wall extends much further than the lead can reach in both directions, and the dog cannot cross through it. Describe the region the dog can reach.
- 8.A trapezium has vertices (2, 1), (6, 1), (5, 4) and (3, 4). It is rotated 180° about the vertex (2, 1). Work out the number of points on the trapezium — including its vertices, edges and interior — that are invariant under this rotation.
- 9.An enlargement with scale factor 5 maps the point (4, 1) to the point (12, 9). Which of these points is invariant (does not move) under this enlargement?
- 10.Two similar model cars have a length scale factor of 2 from the small model to the large model. Priya works out that the area scale factor is 2² = 4, and then says the volume scale factor must also be 4, since that is the number she just calculated. Is Priya correct?
- 11.From an external point P, two tangents PA and PB touch a circle with centre O at the points A and B. Angle APB = 50°. Work out the size of angle OAB.
- 12.Which of these correctly compares a 'line' with a 'line segment'?
- 13.Work out the y-coordinate of the midpoint of the line segment joining (2, 4) and (8, 10).
- 14.A warehouse stores identical cube-shaped crates. Its plan view is a 2 by 4 rectangle of crate positions, and every position is filled to a height of 3 crates, except one corner position, which has only 2 crates stacked on it because a delivery was incomplete. How many crates are there in total?
- 15.A shape is reflected in the x-axis and the image is then reflected in the y-axis. Which single transformation is equivalent to this combination for every point?
