- 1.A path goes from A(1, 1) to B(1, 5), then from B to C(6, 5). Work out the total length of the path from A to C.
- 2.A regular polygon has an exterior angle of 45°. Work out the number of sides of the polygon.
- 3.A pinhole camera is set up at a pitch-side stand, with its aperture at the point O = (2, 1) on a grid. Light from the corner F of a triangular flag, at the point (4, 2), passes through the aperture and forms an inverted image on the film behind it. The projection is an enlargement of scale factor −1.5 centred at O. Work out the coordinates of the image of corner F.
- 4.In triangle ABC, AB = 15 cm, angle BAC = 38° and the area of the triangle is 61 cm². Work out the length of BC. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 5.A triangular plot of land ABC is to be covered with turf. AB = 23.5 m, AC = 17.2 m and angle BAC = 108°. Turf costs £4.25 per square metre. Work out the cost of the turf for the plot. Give your answer to the nearest pound.
- 6.A photograph is 10 cm wide and 15 cm tall. It is enlarged to make a similar poster that is 40 cm wide. The poster costs £0.80 per centimetre of its height to print, based on its full height. Work out the cost of printing the poster.
- 7.A cylindrical candle and a cone-shaped candle have the same base radius and the same height. State the cone's volume as a fraction of the cylinder's volume.
- 8.A parallelogram has an area of 136 cm² and a base of 17 cm. Work out the perpendicular height of the parallelogram.
- 9.Two spheres are similar solids. Their radii are in the ratio 3 : 4. Write down the ratio of their surface areas.
- 10.A(1, 2), B(5, 2) and C(5, 6) are three of the four vertices of a square ABCD. Work out the coordinates of D.
- 11.Lines AB and CD are parallel. A straight line EF crosses AB at point P and crosses CD at point Q. At P, angle APE = 65°. Angle APE and angle BPQ are vertically opposite. Angle BPQ and angle PQD are co-interior (allied) angles. Work out angle PQD.
- 12.Line 1 passes through (0, 1) and (2, 5). Line 2 passes through (3, 2) and (5, 6). Work out the gradient of each line. Then write down whether the two lines are parallel.
- 13.In triangle ABC, AB = 8 cm, BC = 11 cm and AC = 6 cm. Work out the size of angle ABC. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 14.A tent's sloping side makes an angle of 45° with the ground. The sloping side is 3√2 m long. Using the exact value of sin 45°, work out the exact height of the tent.
- 15.A rhombus-shaped floor tile has sides of length 12 cm and an interior angle of 55°. Work out the area of the tile. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
