- 1.In triangle ABC, AB = 6 cm, AC = 8 cm and angle BAC = 60°. Work out the exact area of triangle ABC, giving your answer in the form .
- 2.A transversal crosses a pair of parallel lines. At one line, the angle is (5x + 4)°. The corresponding angle at the other line is (3x + 24)°. Work out the value of x.
- 3.A shop sells rice in packs of 250 g. Aisha buys 4 packs. Work out the total mass of rice she buys, in kilograms.
- 4.Point P has coordinates (1, 3). P is reflected in the line x = 4, then the image is reflected in the line y = 1, and then that image is translated by the vector (2, −3). Work out the coordinates of the final image of P.
- 5.In triangle ABC, AB = AC = 9 cm and angle ABC = angle ACB = 65°. Work out the area of triangle ABC. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 6.A roof has two triangular sections, P and Q. Section P has a sloping edge of 3.6 m and a base edge of 2.4 m, with an angle of 70° between them. Section Q has a sloping edge of 3.6 m and a base edge of 2.4 m, with an angle of 70° between them, arranged the same way round. A roofer wants to cut identical triangular felt panels for both sections without measuring Section Q separately. Which condition confirms that the two sections are congruent?
- 7.A parallelogram has an area of 54 cm² and a base of 9 cm. Work out its perpendicular height.
- 8.OABC is a parallelogram, with OA = a and OC = c. M is the midpoint of AB. Express the vector OM in terms of a and c.
- 9.In triangle ABC, AB = x cm, AC = (x + 2) cm, BC = 15 cm and angle BAC = 100°. Work out the value of x. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 10.Triangle JKL and triangle MNP are similar, with JK ÷ MN = JL ÷ MP = 2. A student says triangle JKL must be congruent to triangle MNP. Write down why the student is wrong.
- 11.Point D is at (3, 7). It is reflected in the line y = x. Work out the coordinates of the image of point D.y = x
- 12.An isosceles triangle ABC has AB equal to AC. AM is a line from vertex A, perpendicular to BC, meeting BC at point M. Which condition proves that triangle ABM is congruent to triangle ACM?
- 13.A surveyor is marking out field ABCD for a new crop. The plan states that side AB is parallel to side DC, but AB and DC are not equal in length, and sides BC and AD are not parallel to each other. Which term correctly describes the shape of field ABCD?
- 14.A tangent to a circle with centre O touches the circle at point P, where OP = 5 cm. Point Q lies on the tangent so that PQ = 12 cm. Using the fact that a tangent is perpendicular to the radius at the point of contact, work out the length OQ.
- 15.A cylinder has a radius of 3 cm and a height of 10 cm. Using π = 3.14, work out the volume of the cylinder.
