- 1.A map has a scale of 1 : 25000. A distance between two points measures 2 cm on the map. What is the real distance, in kilometres?
- 2.A trapezium-shaped allotment plot has two parallel sides that face each other, and two sloping sides that are equal in length (an isosceles trapezium). One of the angles next to the shorter parallel side is 118°. Work out the angle next to the other end of the same shorter parallel side.
- 3.P is the point (3, 4) and Q is the point (6, 0). Work out the distance of each point from the origin, and write down which point is closer to the origin.
- 4.Triangle T has a vertex A at (3, 1). It is enlarged by a scale factor of −2, centre (1, 1). Work out the coordinates of the image of point A.
- 5.Two circles are drawn with the same centre but different radii. Write down the term used to describe this pair of circles.
- 6.A solid has 5 faces, 9 edges and 6 vertices. Two of its faces are triangles and the other three are rectangles. Which solid is it?
- 7.Triangle 1 has sides of 10 cm and 13 cm with an angle of 64° between them. Triangle 2 has sides of 11 cm and 12 cm with an angle of 70° between them. Which triangle has the greater area, and by how much? Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 8.A zip wire is fixed at an angle of 50° to the horizontal, running from a high platform down to the ground. The zip wire itself, from the platform to the ground, is 12 m long. Work out the horizontal distance covered by the zip wire. Give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.
- 9.In triangle ABC, AB = 11 cm, AC = 9 cm and the area of the triangle is 45 cm². Given that angle BAC is obtuse, work out the size of angle BAC. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 10.An enlargement has a scale factor of −2. Priti says the image must be a mirror image of the original shape. Is Priti correct?
- 11.In pentagon PQRST, which of the following correctly names the interior angle at vertex R, using standard three-letter angle notation?
- 12.In triangle ABC, BC = 8 cm, AC = 10 cm and angle BAC = 40°. Given that angle ABC is acute, work out its size. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 13.Points P and Q have coordinates P(0, 0, 0) and Q(5, 7, 9) in a three-dimensional coordinate system, with all lengths in centimetres. Work out the distance PQ. Give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.
- 14.A surveyor is marking out field ABCD for a new crop. The plan states that side AB is parallel to side DC, but AB and DC are not equal in length, and sides BC and AD are not parallel to each other. Which term correctly describes the shape of field ABCD?
- 15.A robotic arm's tip starts at the point (12.5, −4.25) on a grid measured in centimetres. It moves by the vector to pick up a component, then by the vector to place it. Work out the coordinates of the tip after both moves.
