- 1.A drone starts at the point (2, −3) on a coordinate grid. It flies by the vector and then by the vector . Write down the column vector that would take the drone straight back to its starting point.
- 2.A cuboid has a rectangular base measuring 6 cm by 8 cm, and a height of 4 cm. Work out the angle between the diagonal from a base corner to the opposite top corner, and the base of the cuboid. Give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.
- 3.Work out the exact value of sin 45° × cos 45°.
- 4.A patio plan states: 'Side AB of the patio is parallel to side DC, and AB is longer than DC. Sides BC and AD are not parallel to each other and are not equal in length.' The four sides measure AB = 5.1 m, BC = 3.2 m, DC = 2.8 m and AD = 4.5 m. The tiler needs to order edging strip only for the sides that are not parallel to any other side. What total length of edging strip, in metres, should the tiler order?
- 5.A garden is made of two triangular flower beds, ABC and ACD, joined along the edge AC. In triangle ABC, angle ABC = 90°, AB = 5 m and BC = 12 m. In triangle ACD, AD = 9 m and angle CAD = 40°, the angle between AC and AD. Work out the area of flower bed ACD. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 6.A kite ABCD is symmetrical about the diagonal AC, with AB = AD = 6 cm and CB = CD = 9 cm. Angle ABC = 100°. By splitting the kite into two congruent triangles along AC, work out the area of the whole kite. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 7.A scale drawing shows a room that is 5 cm wide. The real room is 15 m wide. Write the scale of the drawing in the form 1 : n.
- 8.PT is a tangent to a circle with centre O, touching the circle at T. OT is a radius. Angle OPT = 27°, where P is a point outside the circle. Work out the size of angle POT.
- 9.Triangle DEF is isosceles, with DE = DF. Angle E = 58°. Give a reason why angle F = 58°.
- 10.A regular hexagon is divided into six identical triangles by joining its centre to each of the six vertices. Work out the size of the angle of one of these triangles at the centre of the hexagon.
- 11.A children's slide is built as a right-angled triangle: the vertical ladder side is 2.4 m, the horizontal base along the ground is 3.2 m, and the sloping slide is the third side. Work out the exact length of the sloping slide.
- 12.What does the statement AB = CD mean, where A, B, C and D are all points?
- 13.Triangle DEF is isosceles, with DE = DF. Angle E = 58°. Work out angle F.
- 14.OABC is a parallelogram, with OA = a and OC = c. M is the midpoint of OC, and N is the point on AC such that AN is twice NC. By finding the vectors MN and MB, show that M, N and B are collinear, and give the scalar k such that MN = k × MB.
- 15.Shape S is enlarged by scale factor −1, centre (0, 0). Which single transformation has the same overall effect as this enlargement, for every point?
