- 1.A, B and C are points on a circle with centre O. B is on the minor arc AC. Angle ABC = 100°. Work out the size of the non-reflex angle AOC.
- 2.m is the column vector with top number 3 and bottom number −4. Which of these column vectors is a scalar multiple of m?
- 3.Two vertical masts stand on level ground, 40 m apart. One mast is 30 m tall and the other is 50 m tall. Work out the straight-line distance between the tops of the two masts. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 4.In triangle ABC the angle at A is 90° and BC = 10 cm. For the angle at B, sin B = 3/5. Work out the length of AC.
- 5.From an external point P, two tangents PA and PB touch a circle with centre O at A and B. Angle APB = 40°. Work out the size of angle AOB.
- 6.Triangle PQR and triangle XYZ have angle P = angle X, angle Q = angle Y and angle R = angle Z, with no side lengths given for either triangle. Which of the following correctly describes the relationship between the two triangles?
- 7.A sector of a circle has radius 12 cm and angle 45°. Using π = 3.14, work out the area of the sector.
- 8.A tangent to a circle touches the circle at exactly one point, P. Work out the size of the angle between the tangent and the radius drawn to P.
- 9.A solid pyramid has a square base of side 10 cm and four identical triangular faces. Its apex is directly above the centre of the base, at a vertical height of 12 cm, and the slant height of each triangular face — the distance from the apex to the midpoint of a base edge — is 13 cm. Work out the total surface area of the pyramid.
- 10.In triangle OAB, OA = a and OB = b. P lies on AB such that AP is twice PB. Express the vector OP in terms of a and b.
- 11.A solid has 5 faces: one square face and four triangular faces, which all meet at a single point above the square. What is the name of this solid?
- 12.In triangle ABC and triangle DEF, AB = DE, AC = DF, and the angle at A equals the angle at D. Write down the congruence condition that proves the two triangles are congruent.
- 13.A shape is reflected in the line y = 1, and the image is then reflected in the line y = 4. Which single transformation is equivalent to this combination, for every point?
- 14.A courier drone delivers a parcel. It starts at the point (2, 1) on a map grid measured in kilometres. It flies by the vector to a warehouse, then by the vector to the delivery address. Work out the coordinates of the delivery address.
- 15.Postcard P is similar to postcard Q. The 6 cm side of P corresponds to the 15 cm side of Q, and the 8 cm side of P corresponds to a matching side of Q. Work out the length of that matching side of Q.
