- 1.A regular hexagon is divided into six identical triangles by joining its centre to each of the six vertices. Work out the size of the angle of one of these triangles at the centre of the hexagon.
- 2.A student says the reverse of the translation vector is . Write down the correct reverse translation vector.
- 3.A kite ABCD is symmetrical about the diagonal AC, with AB = AD = 6 cm and CB = CD = 9 cm. Angle ABC = 100°. By splitting the kite into two congruent triangles along AC, work out the area of the whole kite. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 4.Sam says: '3.2 litres is the same as 320 ml, because you multiply by 100.' Which statement about Sam's claim is correct?
- 5.From an external point P, two tangents PA and PB touch a circle with centre O at A and B. Angle APB = 40°. Work out the size of angle AOB.
- 6.Triangle A has a vertex at (1, 2). Triangle A is enlarged, centre (1, 1), to give triangle B, whose corresponding vertex is at (1, 5). Work out the scale factor of the enlargement.
- 7.e is the column vector with top number 5 and bottom number k. f is the column vector with top number 15 and bottom number 6. Given that f is 3 times e, work out the value of k.
- 8.In triangle ABC, AB = 7.4 cm, AC = 5.9 cm and angle BAC = 68°. Work out the length of BC. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 9.A, B and C are points on a circle with centre O. B is on the major arc AC. Angle AOC = (4x + 20)°. Work out the size of angle ABC in terms of x, in its simplest form.
- 10.In parallelogram PQRS, angle P = 65°. Which reason correctly explains why angle R = 65°?
- 11.A, B, C and D are points on a circle, with B and D both on the same major arc AC. E lies on the straight line through A and B, beyond B, so that angle CBE = 145°. Work out the size of angle ADC.
- 12.Two triangular offcuts of wood, PQR and STU, are cut for a construction project. PQ = 8 cm, QR = 6 cm and angle PQR = 90°. ST = 8 cm, TU = 6 cm and angle STU = 90°. A carpenter wants to check the two pieces are identical in shape and size before using them as a matching pair. Using only the measurements given, and without working out any further lengths, which condition proves that triangle PQR is congruent to triangle STU?
- 13.A rectangular name card has a perimeter of 30 cm. The card is 9 cm long. Work out the width of the card.
- 14.A parallelogram has an area of 84 cm² and a base of 12 cm. Work out the perpendicular height of the parallelogram.
- 15.The vector describes a translation. A student writes it as by mistake. Write down what error the student has made.
