- 1.A charity raises 8 × 10⁶ pounds. This total is shared equally among 2 × 10² local projects. Work out how much each project receives, in standard form.
- 2.To estimate the cost of buying 38.7 m of rope at £21.40 per metre, both numbers are first rounded to 1 significant figure. Work out the estimate.
- 3.Simplify 5⁻² × 5⁴, giving your answer as a single power of 5.

- 5.A water tank holds 80 litres when full. It currently contains 60 litres. Work out what fraction of the tank is empty.

- 11.A box stands on a table. The box exerts a force of 240 N on the table, and the base of the box has an area of 0.8 m². Work out the pressure the box exerts on the table, in N/m².
- 12.Work out 3/7 × 14/9. Give your answer as a fraction in its simplest form.
- 13.Sam compares 0.6 and 5/8 by comparing the digit 6 with the digit 5, and says that 0.6 is the larger number. Convert 5/8 to a decimal to find the correct larger value.

- 15.Work out √225 ÷ 3.
