- 1.Work out −(−3)⁴ + (−3)³
- 2.In a class, 1/3 of the pupils are girls. There are 12 girls in the class. Work out how many pupils are in the class.

- 4.The error interval for the mass of a suitcase, m kg, is given as 22.5 ≤ m < 23.5. Write down the mass of the suitcase, correct to the nearest whole number.

- 13.Work out 2 3/4 − 1 5/6. Give your answer as a fraction in its simplest form.
- 14.A spreadsheet shows that 812 − 397 = 315. Work out an estimate for 812 − 397, by rounding each number to the nearest 100, to check whether the spreadsheet's answer is reasonable.
- 15.A rope is measured as 15 m, correct to the nearest metre. Write down the error interval for the true length, l, of the rope.
