- 1.A jumper is reduced by 15% in a sale to a price of £42.50. Work out the original price.
- 2.A jacket normally costs £65. In a sale it is reduced by 20%, and the shop then takes a further £5 off at the till. Work out the final price.
- 3.A number, y, is equal to 8.2 when rounded to 1 decimal place. Write down the error interval for y.
- 4.During one night on a mountain, four hikers each recorded the temperature they felt: Ben −6 °C, Priya −2 °C, Sam −9 °C, Alex 1 °C. Work out the difference between the coldest and the warmest of these four temperatures.
- 5.A water tank holds 80 litres when full. It currently contains 60 litres. Work out what fraction of the tank is empty.

- 11.Write ∛(x²) as a single power of x.
- 12.A quarter-circle has a radius of 6 cm. Work out the exact perimeter of the quarter-circle, giving your answer in terms of π.
- 13.Simplify √45.
- 14.Rationalise the denominator of 10/(4 − √6), giving your answer in its simplest form.
- 15.A triangle has a base of 8 cm and a perpendicular height of 5 cm, each correct to the nearest centimetre. Work out the upper bound of the area.
