- 2.A square tile has an area of 144 cm². Work out the side length of the tile.
- 3.A printer prints at a constant rate. The time taken to print a batch of forms is inversely proportional to the printer's speed, in pages per minute. Printing at 20 pages per minute takes 15 minutes. Work out how long the same batch takes to print at 25 pages per minute. Give your answer in minutes.
- 4.A solid has 6 faces: one pentagon and five triangles that all meet at a single point above the pentagon. What is the name of this solid?
- 5.A two-way table records how 180 students at a school travel: by bus or on foot, split by year group. There are 84 students in Year 11, of whom 38 travel by bus and the rest walk. The rest of the 180 students are in Year 10, and 42 of the Year 10 students travel by bus. Work out the probability that a randomly chosen Year 10 student walks to school. Give your answer as a fraction in its simplest form.
- 6.The marks scored by four pupils in a quiz were 8, 8, 8, 8. Work out the mean, the median and the mode of these marks.
- 7.A circle has a diameter of 10 cm. Work out the exact circumference of the circle, in terms of π.
- 8.Simplify k + k + k + k + k.
- 9.A metal has a density of 7.8 g/cm³. Work out the density of the metal in kg/m³.
- 10.The point A(3, 2) is translated by the vector (−5, 4) to give point B. Work out the coordinates of B.
- 11.On a Saturday, 2,000 customers go through the tills at a supermarket. The probability that a customer buys a reusable bag is 0.08. Work out how many customers you would expect to buy a reusable bag.
- 12.Write 0.36 as a fraction in its simplest form.
- 13.A formula is F = 4s. A pupil says that when s = 5 the value of F is 9, because they added 4 and 5 instead of multiplying. Work out the correct value of F when s = 5.
- 14.A map has a scale of 2 cm : 5 km. A footpath measures 8 cm on the map. Work out the real length of the footpath, in kilometres.

- 16.A café offers sandwiches with one filling from 5 choices and one type of bread from 4 choices. Cheese and mustard, which is one of the 5 fillings, is not available on gluten-free bread, which is one of the 4 breads. Work out how many different sandwiches are possible.
- 17.The graph of P = 480 ÷ V shows how the pressure, P pascals, of a gas depends on its volume, V cm³, at constant temperature. Use the relationship to work out the volume when the pressure is 32 pascals, and then work out by how much the volume increases when the pressure drops to 24 pascals.
- 18.Work out the value of x when 4/x = 2/5.
- 19.Simplify x⁷ × x⁴, giving your answer as a single power of x.
