- 1.Bella's electricity supplier charges 28.5p per unit (kWh). Last month she used 340 units. Work out the total cost, giving your answer in pounds.

- 4.In a car park the ratio of vans to cars is 2 : 7. Work out the number of vans as a fraction of the number of cars.

- 6.Tickets for a fairground ride are sold in packs of 6. Tokens for the dodgems are sold in packs of 10. Yusuf wants to buy the smallest number of packs of each so that he ends up with the same number of ride tickets as dodgem tokens. Work out how many ride tickets that is.
- 7.A cyclist rides at a steady speed of 8 metres per second. Work out this speed in kilometres per hour.
- 8.A florist has 60 red roses and 84 white roses. She wants to make identical bunches using all the flowers, with the greatest possible number of bunches. Work out how many red roses will be in each bunch.
- 9.The number 24 can be written as 2³ × 3, and the number 60 can be written as 2² × 3 × 5. Work out the lowest common multiple of 24 and 60.
- 10.The mass of a parcel is 3 kg, correct to the nearest kilogram. Which of these masses is not possible for the parcel?
- 11.A carpenter has a plank of wood 4.8 m long. She cuts off 3 pieces, each 0.9 m long, to make shelves. Work out the length of wood remaining.
- 12.Work out 3 1/5 + 1 2/3. Give your answer as a mixed number in its simplest form.
- 13.The thickness of a sheet of card is 0.02384 cm. Write this thickness correct to 2 significant figures.
- 14.A number, n, is a multiple of both 6 and 9. Work out the smallest possible value of n that is greater than 20.
- 15.A number, x, is truncated (not rounded) to 1 decimal place and the result is 6.2. Write down the error interval for x.
