- 1.Work out 2 × 3 × 5 + 1 and decide whether the result is a prime number.
- 2.A lorry travels 105 miles in 1 hour 45 minutes. Work out its average speed in miles per hour.
- 3.Work out 0.6 × 0.04.
- 4.Work out −4.5 + 2.8.
- 5.A photograph uses 4 × 10⁶ bytes of storage. A memory card holds 3.2 × 10¹⁰ bytes. Work out how many of these photographs the card can hold. Give your answer in standard form.
- 6.The mass of a radioactive sample, in grams, n years after it was first weighed is modelled by M = 200 × (1/2)ⁿ. Work out the mass the model gives after 3 years.
- 7.A bus leaves the station at 09:47 and arrives at its destination at 11:23. Work out the journey time.

- 11.Amelia has 49 boxes of apples with 21 apples in each box. Work out an estimate for the total number of apples, by rounding each number to 1 significant figure.
- 12.Write 0.25 as a fraction in its simplest form.
- 13.A box stands on a table. The box exerts a force of 240 N on the table, and the base of the box has an area of 0.8 m². Work out the pressure the box exerts on the table, in N/m².
- 14.Round 6.283 to 1 significant figure.
- 15.In a car park the ratio of vans to cars is 2 : 7. Work out the number of vans as a fraction of the number of cars.
