- 1.A courier's van has a weight limit of 850 kg for its parcels. The driver's display shows the total mass of the parcels loaded as 850 kg, correct to the nearest 5 kg. Decide whether the parcels are definitely within the weight limit.
- 2.A bus leaves the station at 09:47 and arrives at its destination at 11:23. Work out the journey time.
- 3.The attendance at a football match is 23,000, correct to the nearest thousand. Which of these attendances is not possible for the match?
- 4.A laptop costs £720. A carrying case for it costs 1/9 of the price of the laptop. Work out the cost of the carrying case.
- 5.A number is divided by 5, then 6 is subtracted, giving the result −1. Work out the number.
- 6.Is 120 divisible by 5? Give a reason for your answer.
- 7.Grace buys three items costing £9.95, £19.90 and £4.99. Work out an estimate for the total cost, by rounding each price to the nearest pound.
