- 1.A cyclist travels d kilometres in t hours. Write down an expression, in terms of d and t, for the cyclist's average speed in km/h.
- 2.A film runs for 2.25 hours. Work out the length of the film in minutes.
- 3.A lorry is carrying a load of mass m tonnes. Given that 1 tonne = 1000 kg, write down an expression for the mass of the load in kilograms.
- 4.A tap fills a tank at a rate of 15 litres per minute. Given that 1 litre = 1000 cm³, work out the rate at which the tank fills in cm³ per second.
- 5.Butter costs £2.40 per kg. Work out the cost of the butter in pence per 100 g.
- 6.A watering can holds 4500 cm³ of water. Given that 1 litre = 1000 cm³, work out the capacity of the watering can in litres.
- 7.The speed of a car is given by v = d ÷ t. A car travels 180 km in 3 hours. Work out the average speed of the car in km/h.
- 8.A smoothie recipe combines 350 cm³ of mango juice with 650 cm³ of orange juice. Work out the total volume of the smoothie in litres.
- 9.1 litre = 100 centilitres. Work out how many centilitres there are in 6 litres.
- 10.A tank is filled at a rate of 3 litres every 2 minutes. Given that 1 litre = 1000 cm³, work out the flow rate in cm³ per minute.
- 11.A water tank is a cuboid measuring 30 cm × 20 cm × 10 cm. The tank is full of water. Work out how many litres of water it holds.
- 12.Write 3 hours 45 minutes as a decimal number of hours.
- 13.A section of a kitchen wall has an area of 45,000 cm². Work out the area of this section in m².
- 14.A parcel has a mass of 2400 g. Given that 1 kg = 1000 g, work out the mass of the parcel in kilograms.
- 15.The density of a liquid is 0.92 g/cm³. Work out the density of the liquid in kg/m³.
